Giant Bratwurst & Jumbo Frankfurters

Chances are you’ve prepared a number of bratwurst and hot dogs during the span of your culinary experiences. But we’re willing to bet you have not come across the likes of these gargantuan-sized links! Either of them can be thawed in the microwave on defrost. Franks are already fully cooked.

Brats - Place thawed brats in a large sauce pan or pot with enough water or beer (or combination of the two), to cover the brats. Heat to a simmer and cook for 20 minutes. Do not boil them - this will cause the brats to burst! Finish the brats by putting them on a medium-hot grill 7-9” above the heat, until nicely browned and when pierced, the juices are clear (10-15 minutes). Turn them often for even cooking and cover the grill in between. Watch for flare-ups! Serve with grilled onions, brown mustard and pickles.

Franks - Place thawed franks in a pan of water, heat to simmer and cook until heated through, about 10 minutes. To grill, place franks on medium hot grill for 10 minutes. To deep fry, place franks in hot oil (350°) for 2-3 minutes on high. Or simply microwave on high for approximately 30 seconds.
