Layered Lobster Spread



Everyone has had the typical layered crab or shrimp dish on the buffet, but we’ve got one that will make every party guest take notice! Creamy ingredients always seem to partner willingly with lobster meat, and we’re happy to encourage that in this easy dish.

3 (8 oz.) packages cream cheese, softened
2-1/2 Tbsp. mayonnaise
1 garlic clove, crushed
1-1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
1-1/2 tsp. Dijon mustard
3/4 cup fresh chives, minced
1 cup diced tomato
3 cups cooked lobster meat, cut into chunks
1-2 Tbsp. fresh lemon juice
3/4 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Fresh basil for garnish
Crackers (use your favorite kind)

In a medium bowl, blend cream cheese, mayonnaise, garlic, cayenne and mustard. Spread mixture across the bottom of any 12-inch platter or tray. Top with chives, tomato, and then the lobster meat. Sprinkle the lemon juice over the lobster meat layer. Add a dusting of fresh ground black pepper if you like. Sprinkle the lobster layer with the shredded cheese, and then the basil. Serve with your favorite crackers or a sliced French baguette on the side.
